Eggs

Many many years ago I have been on a fleamarket and there was a seller who had a table full of beautiful painted porcellaine eggs. I instantly felt drawn to these little colourful pieces of art, some with flowers, some with patterns, some with little vintage images on it, I´ve even seen one with an egyptian goddess on it. I was amazed.

Usualy I´m not a "collector" (except of native art), but my interest in those eggs never faded. My hubby couldn´t really understand, as he finds them very "kitschy", but today, after so many years looking at them and wishing I had one, I discovered an auction on Ebay of a little collection and I couldn´t resist anymore :)

Unbelievable that I was the only bidder on these little treasures - I won the auction for 20 pieces (not only eggs) for unreal 19 €uros, including shipping!

I paid them today with Paypal - the eggs didn´t arrive yet of course, but I want to share the pictures of you already. My husband rolled his eyes a bit, but after he knows how happy I am I won the auction he will help me now to build a little board to collect the little objects of my new passion - woohoo!

Now let´s just hope that my cats will keep them intact :)

I will let you know when they arrived.

News about my own artwork soon, I was a bit lazy today, so nothing new to show yet!

Have a great day everyone ~ Bettina

  2. Thank you, Nancy :)
I found it unbelievable that no one else was bidding, 19 € was really a steal.
I love the symbolism of eggs, such a perfect shape made my nature and they also show the beginning of a new life. I think they are always nice to look at, not only on easter. I´ve googled a bit and the ammount of different motives is endless, I guess these eggs will not be the last ones I buy, they are all so pretty and don´t cost very much. Can´t wait to receive them!

Your new pillows are so beautiful too, I really like them. Wished I could visit the shop where you found them :)

Thanks for stopping by, your comments always make me happy, Nancy!

    Have a great day xoxo

  3. I don't know how much 19C is? Can you translate that into the dollar? I like the boxes too....they are beautiful.....hope you find many more; I bet ebay will continue to have them but not an entire collection...sometimes, it's fun to look and look and then fine one....Good luck on your
    treasure hunt.....
I like my new pillows too; they look perfect on my sofa in my studio.....the store is a discount store here in the states and it has such wonderful finds....always find something when I go there.....

  4. I just asked my husband and he said - 19€ are about 25$. Unbelievable, isn´t it?

I like the boxes too, all of them are so colourful, and I love colours.

We also have a lot of nice stores in Munich (I live on the country about an half hour drive away from Munich) and sometimes we spend a day there strolling through the shops to look out for little treasures. Usualy I sew our pillows myself, lately I have bought some nice fabrics in a Maroccan store, in tourqoise and orange and added some golden indian borders to it.
Yours, with the spring flowers, are really special, Nancy!

    Love back at ya :*)
