So today I take a view back to the past and will share my first acrylic painting with you. I worked with acrylics in school before, but this is the first painting I made at home.
As I was becoming ill I started drawing and painting with watercolors again and one day my Dad called me and said "I´m just standing in front of a set of acrylics and an easel and I would like to buy it for you. What do you think?"
That was so very cute of my beloved Dad, who knew that I´m struggling cause I have to stay at home for the most of my time and he wanted to make me happy!
That was the day my wonderful journey with colors began. Right at this evening I started to paint and "Frida" was finished only two days later. She have been always my favorite artist and became even more important to me since I am not healthy anymore. Frida Kahlo had to deal with a hard condition herself and she never gave up being creative. With her art she wrote history. The history of a very strong, brave and courageous woman. She´s my hero.
It is not my best one of course as it was my first try, but I like it, cause it was the beginning of my work with acrylics.
Painting always helps me a lot to deal with my condition. It´s something I can do in my comfy home, it´s a way to express myself and I´m finding much joy in it. It´s calming to me and lifts me up very much.
Creativity is magic!
Hope you have all a wonderful week.

I hope you will have a wonderful day full of creative energy and no pain.......
Much love to a very special person,
Butterfly (Nancy)
Oh, thank you very much, Nancy, for all your kind words, your support, your prayers and your offer to email you, I´m really really grateful for that!
AntwortenLöschenYour comments always lift me up very much and make my days.
As I just posted in Glorias blog - as I started blogging here I didn´t expect so much love and support is in the air. Reading the personal stories of others and sharing the own story, reflecting...and supporting each other is wonderful, it teaches us a lot and it is so supportive.
I think one day I will post my little story, for a better understanding of my condition. It is hard to describe in just a few words as it is rather rare and not so common. I didn´t hear about it myself before I was one of the "lucky" ones who experienced it on my own body.
My Dad is the best Dad I can imagine, both of my parents. They support me so very much and also my husband and friends. And this helps so much more as any meds could ever do.
Thanks again, you are one of my first and most beloved readers :*) I´m blessed to meet such a loving person like you.
Much love xoxo Bettina
This is so beautiful! You could have said you painted this yesterday and no one would have been the wiser. It is so beautifully detailed! And, aren't sweet daddy's the best?! : )
AntwortenLöschenThanks so much, Julie. I feel honored to hear this from such a talented artist like you :)
AntwortenLöschenThis painting shows my weak point though - hands! I still can´t paint hands very good, I don´t know why, I have to work on this.
And yes - that was one of the best gifts ever from my Dad. He´s the biggest fan of my paintings and is encouraging me a lot, always!
Hugs xoxo
Hi - Sorry to hear that youve not been feeling good either... yes, the art helps us to forget our troubles. I love the art of frida kahlo ever since I went to an exhibition of hers... I love the one where she has the thorns and a monkey on her shoulder. Love your piece!
AntwortenLöschenart girl from adventures in art blog.
hi - just added you to my my blog list on my blog!
AntwortenLöschenThank you very much! I still have to figure out how things are working here, I will add you as well as soon I created my blog list :*)
AntwortenLöschenThis is a wonderful painting Bettina....you have talent. I see you have a great relationship with your dad...treasure that. My dad died last month and I miss him.
AntwortenLöschenI had the same medical condition as you when I was teaching; I was working too hard and my body couldn't cope. When I retired, within 3 months my skin went back to normal. The brain is a funny thing...
Thank you for visiting me.
Linda x
Linda...so sorry you lost your father last month, my heartfelt condolences. Sending good thoughts and a big hug your way.
AntwortenLöschenSorry also to hear you had to deal with urticaria as well. How crazy it suddenly stopped when you retired!
Gives me hope that mine will suddenly dissappear one day on the same mysterious way it started.
Actually I can barely wear shoes or jeans for longer than an half hour without getting huge oedemas...lifts me up to hear I CAN hope to get rid of it!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a kind comment!
xoxo Bettina
Hi Bettina. Hope you are doing okay. You are my kind of person. I just love Frida. I am going to be painting her soon. I just have been a little busy lately and I do appreciate your nice comments. Your DAD did the right thing in giving you the canvas and paint, because you are an artist, and a special one. Keep doing what you do. Take care and be well.
AntwortenLöschenBettina I'm so sorry you suffer with urticaria. I have a friend who has this condition and its always worse when she is stressed.
AntwortenLöschenYour painting of the brave Frida is very beautiful. You have managed to convey so much of her personality in her lovely face. An amazing woman!
Thank you very much for stopping by and for all your kind comments!
AntwortenLöschenI´m so sorry to hear your friend have to deal with that condition too and hope it isn´t such a heavy case like mine.
I sent the link to your blog to my parents in law, who use to spend a lot time in africa. I´m sure they will LOVE your works like I do :*)
Looking forward to see more of your art.
xoxo Bettina
